Lavon Liles, 90, a resident of Prescott, Kan., died Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, at the Country View Nursing Home in Prescott. She was born Dec. 8, 1920, in Hume, Mo., the daughter of Edward Norbury and Bessie Van Hoozer Norbury. Lavon graduated from the Hume High School in 1937. She married George Edward Liles on Dec. 24, 1938, at Harrisonville, Mo. He preceded her in death on Dec. 2, 2004. She was a member of the Prescott Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Johnnie Liles, Hillsboro, Kan.; a sister, Ann Holmes, Fort Scott, Kan.; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lila Lea Liles; a grandson, Scottie Smith; two brothers, Edward Norbury and Johnie Leon Norbury; four sisters, Lanita Mohler, Edith Martin, Edna Dunnington and Mary Bush.

The Rev. John Kellum will conduct graveside services at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 17, at the Newton Burial Park in Nevada.
