Violet Daisy Adams, 78, Nevada, Mo., died Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at her residence. She was born Sept. 9, 1933, in Doniphan, Mo., to Richard McQuay and Delia Vance McQuay. She was married Aug. 6, 1969, in Miami, Okla., to Kenneth L. Adams and he survives of the home.

Mrs. Adams grew up in the St. Louis, Mo., area and attended school there. She moved to Nevada in 1960, and worked at Nellie-Don, Key Work Clothes, and the Nevada State Hospital for 28 years until her retirement. Violet attended the First Baptist Church in Nevada. She and her husband also delivered for the Nevada Daily Mail for five years.

In addition to her husband, Kenny, survivors include four children, Gary McQuay, Nevada, Susie Caldwell and her husband, Terry, Nevada, Vicki Thornhill, Butler, Mo., and Sandra Dunfield and her husband, Loyd, Nevada; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bob McQuay, Paola, Kan., Doyle McQuay, Hermitage, Mo., and Ronnie McQuay, Stockton, Mo.; two sisters, Sharon Martin, Lane, Kan., and Mary Needham, also of Lane, Kan.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 27, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Interment will follow at Moore Cemetery in Nevada.

Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada, and the family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, Feb. 26, between 6 and 7 p.m.

Contributions may be made in her memory to the Vernon County Cancer Relief Fund in care of Ferry Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, Nevada.
