Ruby Olive Murray

Ruby Olive Murray, 90, Nevada, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Christian Health Care, Nevada, following a brief illness. She was born Sept. 11, 1921, in Coolidge, Kan., to Albert Herren and Mary Kirby Herren. She married John Wesley Murray on Dec. 23, 1937, in Stillwell, Okla., and he preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 1974.

Ruby was born in Kansas and came to this area in 1951. She worked for a number of years at Key Work Clothes and Nelly Don. Her last employment was at Wal-Mart from where she retired. She also helped her husband with a package business and service station. Her memberships included the Community Christian Church and the Nevada Eagles Aerie Lodge No. 3770.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Lowe, Lamar, Mo., and Carolyn Lamb, Nevada; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Grace Terwort, Alba, Okla., and Claretta Wheeler, Atwater, Calif.; and one brother, James Herren, Arkansas City, Kan. She was preceded in death by one great-grandchild, Rocky Burdick.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 7, at Newton Burial Park, Nevada with Betty Plush officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-10:45 a.m., at Ferry Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, Nevada, prior to the graveside service and the family will receive friends now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.
