Gertrude Mavis Roof, 105, Nevada, passed away Wednesday afternoon April 18, 2012, at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. She was born Nov. 17, 1906, in Regan, Okla., to William H. DeHart and Rosa Ann Cobb DeHart. She married James Elmer Perrin in 1940 and he preceded her in death in 1962. She later married Fred Roof in 1970 and he preceded her in death in 1976.

Gertrude was born in Regan, Okla., (Indian Territory) and came to Nevada with her husband in 1940. She worked as an LPN at Nevada State Hospital for 22 years and various nursing homes in Nevada until her retirement. Gertrude was a member of the Sheldon Methodist Church.

She loved her flower garden and vegetable garden, especially her strawberry patch.

Survivors include three sons, David Perrin and his wife Linda, Carrolton, Texas, Paul Perrin and his wife Liz, Richards, Mo., and Jim Perrin and his wife Peggy, Lawrence, Kan.; one daughter, Rosemary Ryan and her husband Bob, Nevada, Mo.; three stepdaughters, Ida Spencer, Nevada, Jean Francis and her husband Glen, Nevada and Peggy Butler, Nevada, Mo., nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and several step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandson and one step-grandson.

Funeral services will be held at Ferry Funeral Home on Monday, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Lynn Quist officiating.

Interment will follow in Sheldon Cemetery, Sheldon, Mo.

Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 6-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
