Walker woman killed in weekend crash

A Walker, Mo., woman was killed in a weekend crash in Nevada, on Saturday evening, June 16. Mary L. Wallace, 80, of Walker, was pronounced dead by Vernon County Coroner David Ferry after the 2002 Ford Taurus she was driving pulled into the path of a 2010 Mercury Mariner driven by Tiffany A. Scheer, 17, of Nevada, Mo.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol online crash reports, Wallace was just to the east of U.S. 71 Highway and traveling northbound while making a left turn when she turned into the path of Scheer who was traveling eastbound on U.S. 54 Highway.

Scheer was tested for alcohol and taken to the Nevada Regional Medical Center with minor injuries and Wallace was taken to the coroner's office, according to the report. Both vehicles were totaled during the crash. Both drivers were wearing safety devices and both were insured. The vehicles were removed from the scene by local wrecker services. This is MSHP Troop D's 44th fatal accident for 2012.
