Velma Johnston, 83, Nevada, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at Moore-Few Care Center, Nevada. She was born on Sept. 23, 1929, in Nevada, to Charles W. Ryan and Hattie Marie Ryan.
Velma was a lifetime resident of Nevada and attended Nevada schools. She worked at various restaurants in Nevada. Velma was a member of the First Christian Church in Nevada.
Survivors include one sister, Judy Brokob, Nevada, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, George Ryan, Charles Ryan and Earl Wayne Ryan; and three sisters, Betty Thornburg, Dorothy Gensler and Rosie Thornburg.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 5, at Ferry Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Platt officiating. Interment will follow in Deepwood Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 4, at the funeral home.
