Kathryn Jean Dilly, 85, Sheldon, Mo., passed away on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at her home. She was born Aug. 3, 1927, in Doon Township, Iowa, to John William Meyer and Lena Sally Appel Meyer. She married Forrest R. Dilly on Oct. 13, 1945, in Minnesota and he survives of the home.
Kathryn was raised in Iowa and South Dakota. She graduated from high school in Madison, S.D. Kathryn and Forrest came to Vernon County in March 1964 where they farmed near Deerfield. They moved to Sheldon in 1978, where they had lived since then. Kathryn worked at Cottey College for more than 20 years in housekeeping, retiring in 2000. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Jolly Seniors in Sheldon.
Survivors include her husband, Forrest, of the home; two sons, Jim Dilly and his wife, Vicki, Nevada, Dan Dilly and his wife, Brenda, Deerfield; two daughters, Joyce Hinrichs and her husband, John, Asbury, Mo., and Sally Jones and Lalan Cole, Nevada, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; one sister, Lu Pendleton, Tulsa, Okla.; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Dilly, Deerfield, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Ted, in 2011; one daughter-in-law, Waneta Dilly; three brothers; and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 25, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Wayne Coble officiating. Interment will follow in Deerfield Cemetery. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 7-8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 24, at the funeral home.
