Shame on us all

Friday, August 30, 2013

Dear Editor:

Regardless of our age or position in life, our values and principles have been formed by our teachings and life experiences. These things form wisdom, if we take the time to observe and discern things happening around us.

If you are scratching your head and confused about what is happening with our way of life, the answer is fairly easy. We have become afraid of our government and are too cowardly to speak up for fear of being punished.

We accept lies, half truths and stalling without saying a word. Even worse, we continue to allow them to speak on our behalf by electing them over and over again.

If your children lied to you like our leaders, you would, or should, spank the back of their lap and put them in time-out. But we are too cowardly to do anything so we accept it and hope they will do better next time.

Our nation was founded by Godly men who were willing to stand up for truth and freedom, even if it meant losing their lives and fortunes. Many of them lost both, to give us this great country. What has changed?

The minority now overrules the majority. We have lost our voice.

I'm 72 years old, so I won't have much longer to put up with it. We live in the land of what used to be the free and the brave.

We are no longer brave. And before long, we will no longer be free.
