Thomas Earl Cady, 69, Harrisonville, Mo., formerly of Sheldon, Mo., passed away Sept. 1, 2013, at Benchmark Healthcare in Harrisonville. He was born Aug. 20, 1944, in Auburn, Calif., to Leland Cady and Sylvia C. Ambler Cady.

Thomas attended high school and graduated in Kansas City, Mo. He joined the United States Army where he was awarded the National Defense Service Metal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal w/V Device, Bronze Star Medal (1st Oak Leaf cluster), Combat Infantry Badge, Vietnam Corps of Gallantry with Palm, and Good Conduct Medal. Thomas' last overseas tour was Hawaii. He later worked as a mechanic doing auto repair.

He is survived by his son, Mike Cady, Murray, Neb., and his former wife, Paula Ricker, Omaha, Neb.; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Alva; and one brother, James.

Services will be held 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 6, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with David Rorabaugh officiating. Interment will follow in the Sheldon Cemetery. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home.
