Marjorie Lou Rogers

Marjorie Lou Rogers, 88, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. She was born on Aug. 16, 1925, in Colorado Springs, Colo., to Fred Albert Josepeit and Ruth Arvilla Marriott Josepeit. She married Earl L. "Buster" Rogers on Jan. 24, 1945, in Goodland, Kan., and he survives of the home.

Marjorie graduated from Calhan High School in Calhan, Colo. She and Earl, along with their two older daughters, came to Vernon County in 1951 from Calhan County. Their youngest daughter, Shirley, was born in Missouri. Marjorie served as Postmaster for 10 years in Richards and 11 years in Deerfield until her retirement. She was a member of the Richards Christian Church and also attended the Rinehart Christian Church. Marjorie was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Richards and later of the Nevada chapter; a member of the Stotesbury Grange and the Riverview Extension Club, an active 4-H Leader for many years for the Richards 4-H, Rinehart 4-H, and was active in the Vernon County Youth Fair and she was a PTO Officer at Richards school. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, and living on the farm. Marjorie also loved being with her family and attending her grandchildren's activities.

Survivors in addition to her husband, Earl, include three daughters, Linda Verman and her husband, Eldon, Independence, Mo., Jacqueline Linn and her husband, Jimmie, Bronaugh, Mo., and Shirley Peckman and her husband, Ron, Richards, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Brian Verman and his wife, Allison, Independence, Mo., Staci Ringwald and her husband, Steve, Batesville, Ark., Scott Linn and his wife, Nancy, Rogersville, Mo., Ryan Linn and his wife, Monica, Bronaugh, Mo., Ty Peckman, Univesity of Missouri-Columbia, Courtney Hanson and her husband, Ryne, Richards, Mo., and Meagan Peckman, Nevada; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Redding, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Hair and Caroline West; and an infant brother.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 28, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Ricky Walles officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park in Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made in her memory to the Vernon County Youth Fair in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
