Henrietta "Penny" Cooksey

Henrietta "Penny" Cooksey, 81, LaCygne, Kan., passed away on Friday Oct. 23, 2013. She was born on June 10, 1932, in Lyons County, Kan., the daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Mary Alice Anderson Smith. She married Bob Lindquist in 1943 and he preceded her in death in 2001. She married Elmer Ray Stinnett and he preceded her in death in 1995. She married RJ Cooksey in 1997 and he preceded her in death in 2007. She worked as a travel agent.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Betty; a brother, Sonny Smith; five sisters, Betty Sealock, Jean Cox, Martha Parks, Carol Smith, and Peg Armentrout; and a grandson, Courtney Finch. She is survived by two sons, Bruce and Mike Lindquist; two daughters, Ann Sucow and Joy Higgins; one brother, Bob Smith; three sisters, Nancy Craig, Joan Pfannenstel, and Pat Hains; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren with her first husband, Bob; six grandchildren, Chayne, Joe, and Chris Bittner, James Stinnett of Deerfield, Mo., Rebecca Stinnett of Richards, Mo., and Earl Higgins of Nevada; 32 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 30, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, LaCygne Chapel. Visitation was from 10 a.m. to service time. Burial was in the Pleasanton Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to Aseracare Hospice.
