Juanita E. Crane

Juanita E. Crane, 90, formerly of Nevada, Mo., passed away on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at St. Luke's Nursing Center, in Carthage, Mo., following a brief illness. She was born on Dec. 11, 1922, in WaKeeney, Kan., to Guy O. McEldowney and Ethel Grace Tinsley McEldowney. She married Thomas Crane on Oct. 8, 1969, in Nevada, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 19, 1995.

Juanita was raised in Joplin, Mo., and attended school there. She worked as an LPN and also taught at the Nevada State Hospital for 30 years until her retirement. She has lived in Carthage for the past 18 years to be near her family and was a member of the Fairview Christian Church in Carthage.

Survivors include one daughter, Nellie Holzwarth and her husband, Chet, Carthage, Mo.; four grandchildren, Randy Holzwarth and his wife, Cathy, Carthage, Rhonda Craig and her husband, Mike, Carthage, Cathy Diggs and her husband, Rex, Carthage, and Christina Crouse, Plano, Texas; 11 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; five brothers; and one sister.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 11, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Carthage, Mo. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Friends could call from noon to 7 p.m., Sunday, Nov 10, at the funeral home.
