Nancy Jane DeVan

Nancy Jane DeVan, 81, formerly of Nevada, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at her home in Bentonville, Ark., following an illness of several months. Nancy was born Feb. 9, 1932, in Omaha, Neb., to Lester S. Hagerman and Grace (Tucker) Hagerman. On Sept. 8, 1956, she was married in Omaha to John W. DeVan.

Nancy was raised in Omaha and graduated from Central High School there in 1949. She and John came to Nevada from Milwaukee, Wis., in 1972. Nancy worked for the Nevada City Hospital as a medical transcriptionist for 10 years and later in Omaha for a number of years before retiring to Bentonville in 2000.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Belle Vista.

Survivors include her husband, John, of the home; three children, Julie Kibble and her husband, Steve, Fort Scott, Kan., Ken DeVan and his wife, Cindy, Leavenworth, Kan., and Allison Ferry and her husband, David, of Nevada; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Jean Goodman, Omaha; and one nephew and one niece.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 13, at the First United Methodist Church in Belle Vista, Ark.

Contributions may be made to Vernon County Cancer Relief in her memory in care of Ferry Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, Nevada.
