Patricia Lee McGuire, 86, Gravois Mills, Mo., formerly of Sheldon, Mo., passed away Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at Mercy Hospital, Lebanon, Mo. Patricia was born in Kansas City, Mo., on Nov. 21, 1927, to John Lilburn (Lee) Kabler and Violet Gene Darling Kabler. She was united in marriage to George Thomas McGuire on Dec. 27, 1945, in Fort Scott, Kan., and he survives of the home.

Patricia grew up in Sheldon and attended school there. She later worked for Pyramid Life Insurance for 39 years. Patricia volunteered at the Fort in Fort Scott, Kan., and the Westlake Christian Church in Laurie, Mo. She was a great cook and enjoyed having Sunday dinners and Saturday night Taco Night with her grandchildren. Her pies were the very best. Patricia's hobbies included knitting, crocheting, counted cross stitch and reading. Her family gave her a Kindle as a Christmas gift and it went everywhere with her, even in her last hours she made sure we knew where her Kindle was. Patricia was married for 68 years to the love of her life. Her girls were her passion and the grandkids were her joy!

In addition to her husband, George, survivors include, two daughters, Kathleen Lee Vogel and her husband, Jim, Gravois Mills, Mo., and Victoria Lynn Burgard, Kansas City, Kan.; six grandchildren, Richard Vogel, Jill Vogel Hinton and Shannon, Joshua Vogel and Tiffany, Melinda Burgard Sauceda, Michael Burgard and Kelly, Melissa Burgard: 17 great-grandchildren, Jacob Pickert, Emma Lee Vogel, Kohl Michael Vogel, Bailey Pemberton, Brittany Hinton, Brady Marie Hinton, Elijah Vogel, Samuel Vogel, Megan Stone and Allen, Mikalee Garcia and Tony, Zef Sauceda, Lacey Burgard, Lyndsey Burgard, Alexis Burgard, Tyler Ramirez, Taylor Ramirez, Tatum Ramirez; two great-great-grandchildren, Haylee Estenbaum and Faith Garcia; and four cousins, Shirley Cochran, Wesley Kabler, Neal Kabler and Anna Kabler Hines.

Graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 27, at the Sheldon Cemetery, Sheldon, Mo., with the Rev. Kelly Caldwell officiating. Family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m., prior to the service at Ferry Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the Sheldon Cemetery in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
