Eldon Eugene "Gene" Zilliox

Eldon Eugene "Gene" Zilliox, 81, Moundville, Mo., passed away on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at Fort Scott Manor, Fort Scott, Kan. Eldon was born on June 1, 1932, in Moundville, to Joe Zilliox and Mayme Rickets Zilliox. He married Virginia Henry on February 19, 1975, in Springfield, Mo., and she preceded him in death on Dec. 10, 1995.

Eldon was raised in Moundville and graduated from Bronaugh High School Class of 1949. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He lived all his life in the Moundville area and operated a carpentry business in Vernon County for many years.

Survivors include three sons, Eric Landoll and his wife, Angie, Nevada, Brad Landoll and his wife, Karla, Nevada, and Damon Zilliox and his fiancé, Candi Huff, Moundville, Mo.; five grandchildren, Russell Zilliox, Haley Zilliox, Abigail Landoll, Clay Landoll and Carter Landoll; three sisters, JoAnn Jackson and her husband, Jim, Bolivar, Mo., Waneta Girardier and her husband, Bill, Stockton, Mo., and Carol Chadd and her husband, Denny, El Dorado Springs, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife; and one brother, Merle Zilliox.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 5, at Hackberry Cemetery in Moundville, Mo., with Roger Beach officiating. Friends may call until noon on Wednesday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
