Randall Gene Layher, 64, Moundville, Mo., passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014, at his home in Moundville, after a brief illness. Randy was born Feb. 6, 1950, in Nevada, to Gottlob Fredrick Layher Jr. and Erma Lavonne Clapsaddle. He was united in marriage to Rebecca Lee Duncan on Nov. 24, 1990, in Nevada, and she survives of the home.

Randy was raised in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School Class of 1968. After high school he graduated from Barber College and worked as a barber for 10 years in Nevada. He then began working for his father Fred in the family business, Layher Amusement Co., which he later bought and continued running until his retirement. He then retired to the farm near Moundville to become his son's ranch foreman.

In addition to his wife, Rebecca, survivors include one son, Matt Layher and his wife, Lori, Bronaugh; stepchildren, Melissa Rothove and her husband, Dave, Sunrise Beach, Mo., Kari Hoover, Kansas City, Kan., Heather Hoover, Invercargill, New Zealand, Trever Hoover and his wife, Natalie, Bunker Hill, Ill., and Devin Hoover, Austin, Texas; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his father, Fred Layher, Nevada; one brother, Ron Layher and his wife, Judy, Branson, Mo.; one sister, Diane Jackson and her husband, Guy, Monett, Mo.; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 2, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with the Rev. Terry Mosher officiating. Interment will follow in Worsley Cemetery, Bronaugh. Family will receive friends Tuesday, from 7-8 p.m., at Ferry Funeral Home.

Contributions may be made in his memory to Mercy Cancer Unit of Hope, Fort Scott, Kan., in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
