Gloria Eva Locke

Gloria Eva Locke, 87, of Nevada, Mo., passed away Monday, March 31, 2014, at Nevada Regional Medical Center. She was born March 9, 1927, in Dr. Primm's home/office, in Deerfield, to Charles and Gladys Mildred (Henley) Lewis. On June 29, 1946, she was united in marriage to Bennie Joe Locke and he survives of the home.

Gloria attended school in Deerfield, then moved to Nevada where she began employment at Eason Grocery. It was while working there that she met her future husband. Together the couple became parents of two daughters. They lived their entire lives in Nevada with the exception of seven years when the family lived in Paola, Kan., for Bennie's work. Gloria worked for more than 20 years for Thomas Pharmacy and Gifts retiring from there in 1992. She was a past member of the First Baptist Church of Nevada. In her spare time Gloria enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and going to bluegrass music festivals.

Aside from her husband, Gloria is survived by her two daughters, Connie Locke, of Schell City, Mo., and Vicki Dilly and her husband, Jim, of Nevada; one grandson, Dustin Dilly and his wife, Heather, of Milo; two great-grandchildren, Taten and Addisen Dilly; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Graveside services with interment for Mrs. Locke are scheduled at 11 a.m., Friday, April 4, at the Deerfield Cemetery, in Deerfield, with the Rev. David Rorabaugh officiating.

Contributions may be made in her name to the Deerfield Cemetery in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
