Marjorie E. Pursley

Marjorie E. Pursley, 95, Nevada, Mo., passed away Monday, May 26, 2014, at the Joe Clark Care Center, in Nevada, after a brief illness. Marjorie was born March 31, 1919, in Horton, Mo., to Curtis Shaw and Talia (Dean) Shaw. She was united in marriage to James Wayne Pursley on July 17, 1946, in Fort Scott, Kan., and he preceded her in death on Sept. 2, 2010.

Marjorie grew up in Horton and attended the Frog Pond Elementary School where she rode her pony to school, she then went on to attend Nevada schools. During World War II she worked in a factory in Kansas City. Following Wayne's retirement they enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with their friends at Pomme De Terre Lake. Marjorie loved being with her family, fishing, and traveling.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Pfeffer and her husband, Nathan, Marco Island, Fla.; three granddaughters, Jennifer Jones and her husband, Chris, Galena, Ohio, Melissa Murphy and her husband, Mike, Southern Pines, N.C., and Emily Powers and her husband, Ted, Greenville, Ohio; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Wayne, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, May 30, at Ferry Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Moore Cemetery in Nevada with the Rev. Dennis Painter officiating.

Contributions may be made in her name to the Shriners Children's Hospital in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
