Bro. Larry Lee Brown

Tuesday, June 3, 2014

Bro. Larry Lee Brown, 59, of Walker, Mo., passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014, at his home. He was born July 18, 1954, in Nevada, the son of Charles Raymond and Virginia Mary Jane (Danley) Brown. Larry attended school in Walker, graduating with the Class of 1972. On Dec. 15, 2000, he was united in marriage to Barbara Elaine (Poe) and she survives of the home.

For a short time Larry worked construction for Bob Shearer then began his own business -- Larry Brown Construction, building many new homes as well as doing extensive remodeling in Vernon County and the surrounding areas. All of his life Larry was a follower of Jesus having grown up in a Christian home where his father served as a minister and his mother a Sunday school teacher. For most of his adult life he was instrumental in all aspects of the Faith Baptist Church, in Walker, which was founded by his family.

He served in all areas of the church -- as a Sunday school teacher, music ministry, and for the last 15 years had filled the pulpit when called upon. Due to his father's recent declining health he had assumed the full-time minister position two years ago. Larry was known to be an extremely kind and compassionate person, willing to help at any time.

He was a very hard worker and in recent years had run his construction business alongside two of his sons. In what spare time he had Larry enjoyed fishing and hunting, but his greatest love was his family and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Aside from his wife survivors include four sons, Lorne and Laci Brown, of Nevada, Heath and Jamie Brown, of Walker, Wyatt and Brandy Brown, of El Dorado Springs, and Chuck McCartney, of Independence; two daughters, Alice and Brett Williams, of Nevada, and Becky and Jeff Brockman, also of Nevada; his father, Bro.
