Audrey Maxine Miller Hamel, 66, of Hume, Mo., passed from this life Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at KU Medical Center, in Kansas City, Kan. She was born Dec. 6, 1947, in Fort Scott, Kan., the daughter of Roy Jr. and Margie Maxine (Brooks) Johnson. She was united in marriage to Edwin (Fox) Miller, in 1974, and he preceded her in death in 1986. She later married John Hamel on Nov. 8, 1988, in Miami, Okla., and he survives of the home.

Audrey was raised in the Stotesbury/Hume area where she attended school and was a graduate of Richards High School Class of 1965. From the time of her high school graduation through her retirement in December 2012, she was employed at Security State Bank, in Rich Hill, where she held the position of vice president. With the exception of a short time, Audrey spent her entire life in the Stotesbury/Hume area.

Aside from her husband, John, survivors include her mother, Margie Johnson, of Nevada; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Avis Johnson, of Hume; two sisters and brothers-in law, Tom and Debbie Barnes, of Walker, and Eddie and Peggy Deming, of Nevada; along with many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great- nephews. Aside from her first husband, Edwin, and her father, "Mutt," she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Johnson and Sarahbelle Johnson; and nephew, Colby Lee Deming.

Funeral services for Audrey Maxine Miller Hamel are scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 6, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada. Interment will follow in the East Liberty Cemetery, near Stotesbury. Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 5, also at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made in Audrey's name to the First Christian Church, in Nevada, in care of Ferry Funeral Home.

Following the interment the family will gather along with friends to enjoy a meal and fellowship at the Legion Hall, in Hume, Mo., on the east side of the square. All are welcome.
