Louise Farmer

Louise Farmer, 72, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, at Freeman West Hospital, in Joplin, Mo. Louise was born on March 12, 1942, in Barton County, Mo., to Stanley Mitts and Lucy Mae (Bourquin) Mitts. She was united in marriage to Allen Farmer on Feb. 25, 1961, in Liberal, Mo., and he preceded her in death on July 26, 2010.

Louise was raised in Barton County and attended Lamar High School graduating with the Class of 1960. She came to Nevada in 1965, and had resided here since that time. Louise was a homemaker and she also was a babysitter for many years. She attended the Pine Street Baptist Church having taught Sunday school there in past years. Louise loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include one son, Stan Farmer and his wife, Susie, of Jefferson City, Mo.; one daughter, Sherry Jenkins and her husband, Skip, of Nevada; six grandchildren, Camille McClelland and her husband, Sean, Moriah Farmer, Brieanna Farmer, Mark Steward, Matthew Steward and his wife, Ruth, and Megan Swenson and her husband, Ben; four great-grandchildren, Josie McClelland, Allen, Clayton, and Mckayla Swenson; one sister, June Gray, Sheldon; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Allen, she was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 24, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada. Interment will follow in Howell Cemetery, Milford, Mo. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m., Tuesday.
