Letter to the Editor

Thank you for making the event a success

Tuesday, August 11, 2015

Dear Editor:

We wanted to thank all the exhibitors who participated in our ninth annual Schowe-n-Shine Auto Show. This was the eighth year we partnered with the Nevada Area Habitat for Humanity. Thanks again to all their board members and volunteers who helped us put on the show. Without our generous and hard working sponsors, none of this would be possible.

First, thank you Corey Johnson, CMJ Financial, who served as underwriting sponsor to cover much of the cost to put on our event. Thank you Wes Knell, State Farm Insurance, again an event sponsor and a contact person for our business sponsors. Thank you National TV Sales and Rental, who for the fifth year in a row donated a new washer and dryer to the next Habitat home build. Thank you Brent Mendenhall, Del-Way, for providing promotional gifts for vehicle exhibitors.

Thank you KNEM/KNMO Radio for our advertising promotions and our live radio remote by Bill Fleming the day of the show. Thank you to Mike Kershner for doing our live DJ, music and announcements. Thank you to TCB Towing and 54 Feed and Seed for your exhibits and donations to our show. Thank you Missouri Eagle, Nevada High School FBLA, Dana Redburn, Nevada Parks and Recreation, and Roger and Tami Beach.

And though our vehicle exhibitor numbers were down due to stormy weather around our area, our barbecue competition again sold out and gave us a sizable donation to the Habitat. Thank you Nevada United Methodist Church, Riverside Cowboy Church, Living Hope Ministries, and this year's People's Choice winner, First Christian Church, Nevada.

By our 50/50 pot, live auction, registration fees, donations and our food sales revenue, our net donation for the day was $6,300 to the Nevada Area Habitat for Humanity.

That brings our Schowe-n-Shine proceeds for the last eight years tot a total of $45,000 for Habitat.

Without the hard work and donated time that my staff puts in for weeks in advance of our show date, none of this would be possible. Thank you Brandi Todd, Jamie Dipman, Kelsey Garrison, Meeka Perkins, Meghan Miranda, Teresa McCoy and Emily Martin (Dolly the Clown). You are all awesome!

To Terry Hahnfeld, Jerry Arnold and Pat Griffith, thank you for your ongoing support over the years.

My wife, Linda, and I are grateful for all the patrons who help make these events possible. We take little credit for any success we may have and take all the heat from those who complain. It's just part of the job.

Want to be part of our 10th Annual Schowe-n-Shine on Saturday, May 21, 2016? Contact our office at 417-667-7134.
