In the early morning hours of September 1, a Nevada Police officer was conducting routine business checks throughout the city. The officer noticed a vehicle occupied by four subjects in a closed church parking lot. The vehicle quickly departed the area after seeing the police officer.

The Nevada Police Officer was able to conduct a vehicle license check and discovered that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Springfield, Mo. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. However, the driver of the vehicle failed to yield to the officer attempting to make the stop.

The officer examined the surrounding area noting there was no pedestrian or vehicle traffic and started to pursue the vehicle toward the west part of town. The vehicle left the city of Nevada going west into rural Vernon County. The officer maintained sight of the vehicle noting speeds and other traffic during the pursuit to ensure life or property was not in danger.

The vehicle started to approach U.S. Highway 54. where a Vernon County Deputy was waiting. As the vehicle approached the deputy, spike strips were deployed across the road, causing the vehicle tires to go flat.

The vehicle then re-entered the city of Nevada, where it came to a stop in the middle of Austin Boulevard near College Street. Nevada Police and Vernon County Deputies approached the vehicle and multiple occupants fled from the vehicle. Law enforcement officers were able to apprehend the driver of the vehicle, along with another passenger. Two juvenile suspects who fled the scene, were identified by police, but are not yet in custody.

Nevada Police discovered what they believed to be multiple pieces of drug paraphernalia inside the stolen vehicle, along with a replica BB gun that resembles a large caliber handgun.

The two suspects that were apprehended were identified as two male juveniles. At this time, their identities aren't being released. The Vernon County Juvenile Office was contacted and a juvenile officer assisted in the investigation. The driver of the vehicle was taken to a juvenile corrections facility.
