Joseph S. Pike, 81, Nevada, Mo., departed this life on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015, at Moore-Few Care Center, in Nevada, following a brief illness. Joe was born Oct. 8, 1934, in Milo, Mo., to Lester DeWitt and Jeanette Lynn (Pace) Pike.

Joe was born in Milo and raised in the Ellis area in Vernon County. He attended school in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School. Following high school Joe served in the United States Army for two years, being stationed in Germany from 1955-57. Upon his return to Nevada he began employment at the Nevada State Hospital where he continued to work for more than 30 years, until his retirement.

Joe loved fishing, he also loved animals and nature, and being outdoors.

Survivors include his children, Mary Jo Shouse and her husband, Gary, Spearville, Kan., Joe Pike and his wife, Tracy, Nevada, Matt Pike and his wife, Jamie, Nevada, and Jeanie Masters, Nevada; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Tandy Pike, Sheldon, and Tony Pike Sr., Compton Junction; three sisters, Grace Colvin, Nevada, Jewell Williams, Bronaugh, and Alice Rammage, Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lester; and one sister, Jean Gicante.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 30, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 29, at the funeral home.
