Margie Louise (Brooks) Johnson

Margie Louise (Brooks) Johnson, 87, Nevada, Mo., went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 4, 2016, at Moore-Few Care Center, in Nevada. Margie was born on Sept. 3, 1928, in Hume, Mo., to Jim and Gussie Brooks. She was united in marriage to Roy (Mutt) Johnson Jr., in June 1945, in Fort Scott, Kan., and he preceded her in death in October 2000.

Margie was raised in the Hume area where initially she was a homemaker, but once the children were close to school age she worked as a housekeeper for many families in Nevada. She was then employed by Nevada State Hospital where she retired in 1990. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Nevada and Widow's Group. She loved participating in Sunday school class, Widow's Group and enjoyed her church.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by a son, James L. Johnson, Hume, Mo.; two daughters, Debbie M. Barnes, Walker, Mo., and Peggy S. Deming, Nevada, Mo.; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Roy, she was preceded in death by three daughters, Audrey M. Hamel, Nancy L. Johnson, and Sarah B. Johnson; one grandson, Colby L. Deming; her parents; and two brothers, Budd Brooks and Richard Brooks.

Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, March 10, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with the Rev. Bill Platt officiating. Interment will follow in the East Liberty Cemetery, near Stotesbury, Mo. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Ferry Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made in her memory to the First Christian Church in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
