Parents of children who will be 5 years old on or before July 31, are asked to "Think P.I.N.K." and attend Parent Information Night for Kindergarten 2016-17 at Bryan School on Monday, April 4, at 6:30 p.m.

The Nevada Parents As Teachers Program and Bryan School will be hosting an open house and information night for parents and their "kindergarteners-to-be." The children will visit kindergarten classrooms, enjoy special school activities and be treated to a school bus ride. Parents will receive information regarding screening, immunization requirements, kindergarten goals and objectives and enrollment packets.

Enrollment information may be completed at home and returned to Bryan School, April 5 through April 8 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Along with the enrollment form, parents should also bring their child's state birth certificate, immunization records, and two proofs of residency. (i.e. telephone bill, rent receipt etc.) Children do not need to be present when enrolling.

Appointments for kindergarten screening will be included as part of the enrollment process. Screening will be held April 18 and 19 at the First Baptist Church, 305 E. Highland. In the screening children will receive a free educational inventory measuring cognitive skills, language development and motor ability.

A general health screening will also be included which will cover speech, vision and hearing. Parents and the child's kindergarten teacher will be provided with the results of the assessment.

Parents of children ages 3-5 who will not be attending kindergarten are also encouraged to have their children screened, especially if they suspect their child may have a delay. Preschoolers will be screened with an educational inventory similar to the kindergarten assessment. Results and learning strategies will be shared with parents.

Parents As Teachers educators will be taking appointments for these screenings in the P.A.T. office April 5 through 15, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. at 448-2061. Screening is a prerequisite for participation in any of the R-5 Preschools.

For further information contact Debbie Spaur, Bryan Principal at 448-2060 or Parents As Teachers at 448-2061.
