Applications available for senior men's scramble tournament

Applications for the Senior Men's Scramble Tournament are now available at Frank E. Peters Municipal Golf Course in Nevada. According to a press release from John Taylor, the tournament's director, this years tournament will include closest to the pin, longest drive, and longest putts for each of the three age groups.

Contestants will play as two-man scramble teams divided into the three age groups of senior (50-64), super senior (65-74), and golden oldies (75-and-up). The Senior players tee off from the white tees, while the rest of the golfers tee off from the yellow tees.

In addition, Taylor, who is also the Nevada Senior Golf League president, said format-changes have been implemented, and are as follows: All players regardless of age (will) play from the "easy course" (yellow tees), and get scored with their partner in scramble format separately by seniors aged 50-69, and super seniors aged 70-and-over.

"It is believed that the 'easy' course may draw additional 50-69 age players that wish to play competitive, fun golf and with less 'big-hitter pressure' than playing from the white tees," Taylor said.

The men's senior league tees off every Tuesday at Frank E. Peters Municipal Golf Course. Particpants gather at 8:30 for sign-in and partner drawings, before hitting the links for nine holes of friendly competition.

"We play for fun, competition, and just playing golf on a regular basis," Taylor said.
