Jeffery Allan Close

Jeffery Allan Close, 48, of Joplin, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016, at his home. He was born on Sept. 14, 1967, at St. Vincent's Hospital, in Monett, Mo.

Jeff graduated from Nevada High School, Nevada, Mo., in 1986. He was in the high school band, and got to march in the Orange Bowl Parade in Dallas, Texas, his senior year. Jeff served in the Navy on the USS Midway CV-41. He always enjoyed meeting new people and was very friendly. Jeff worked in lawn care. He will be missed by family and friends.

He is survived by a daughter of Oklahoma; his mother, Mary Daugherty, of Rockport, Texas; father, Bill Close and wife, Phyllis, of Springfield, Mo.; two brothers, Aaron Close and wife, Amy, of Republic, Mo., and Rob Close and wife, Bridgett, of Springfield, Mo.; and several aunts and uncles and a host of cousins.

Memorial graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 14, at Washburn Prairie Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Gideons International.
