Norman Eugene Hulse, 76, Nevada, Mo., departed this life in Monday, June 20, 2016, at Nevada Nursing and Rehab, in Nevada, Mo. Norman was born Sept. 12, 1939, in Nevada, to Walter Darrell and Ethel Mahalia (Semler) Hulse. He was united in marriage to Patty JoAn Shepley on Oct. 24, 1959, in Nevada, and she preceded him in death on May 9, 2013.

Norman was raised in the Walker area and graduated from Walker High School Class of 1957. Following high school he served in the Missouri National Guard for six years from 1957 to 1963. During the 60s Norman worked at and operated a gas station on Subway Boulevard, in Nevada, for a few years before moving his family to Kansas City. He worked more than 25 years at Hallmark Cards until his retirement in the mid 90s. At that time he returned to Nevada where he has continued to reside. Norman loved to read whatever he could get his hands on. He had a lifelong love of horses, the outdoors, was an avid collector of many things, loved to watch baseball and football on TV, and he had a sense of humor and loved to tease.

Survivors include his two daughters, Tammi Bozworth and her husband, Fred, Nevada, and Shelli Harkrader and her husband, Dean, Nevada; five grandchildren/great-grandchildren, Elaine Eaton, Monica Eaton, Haylee Bozworth, Devon Harkrader, and Daniel Eaton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patty; parents; and one sister, Ethel Mae VanStratten.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 23, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with Felix Salazar officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
