Lillie Mae Pitts, 95, Bronaugh, Mo., passed from this life in Monday, Sept. 5, 2016, at her home in Bronaugh. Lillie was born on Oct. 2, 1920, in Sheldon, Mo., to Harry Lee and Dora F. (Wolf) Beasley. She was united in marriage to Chester F. Pitts on May 3, 1941, in Liberal, Mo., and he preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 1989.

Lillie was raised in Vernon and Barton counties. She attended school in Mindenmines and in 1938 she graduated from Mindenmines High School. Lillie was employed at Key Work Clothes in Nevada for 35 years. She then worked an additional 15 years at the Nevada Senior Center where she became the head cook. Lillie enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading and traveling.

Survivors include two sons, Harry Pitts and his wife, Shirley, Bronaugh, and Larry Pitts and his wife, Sharon, Bronaugh; two daughters, Viola Cain, Moundville, and Nancy Pitts, Bronaugh; four grandchildren, Lillie Ann Wingate and her husband, Doug, Jerry Cain and his wife, Kathi Jo, Steve Cain and his wife, Amber, and Paul Pitts and his wife, Katie; and seven great-grandchildren, Kieran Cain, E.J. Wingate, Gus Cain, Keilah Cain, Clara Cain, J.D. Wingate, and Heidi Cain. In addition to her husband, Chester, she was preceded in death by her parents; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; three brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 8, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with Bob Dickey officiating. Interment will follow in Worsley Cemetery in Bronaugh. Friends may call from 3:30 p.m., today, and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home.

Contributions may be made in his memory to the Bronaugh Fire Department or Bronaugh FFA in care of Ferry Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, Nevada.
