Tuesday, September 20, 2016

Robert "Bob" Samuel Kimzey, 70, passed from this life on Saturday, Sept. 17, at the family farm surrounded by his family. He was born on April 15, 1946, in rural El Dorado Springs, Mo. He was the son of Rolla E. Kimzey and Pearl O. (Stone) Kimzey. On April 30, 1965, he was united in marriage to Judy A. (Thomas) Kimzey, and she survives of the home.

Bob grew up in the Roscoe and Osceola area before moving to Nevada at a young age. In his teenage years, he worked for local farmers and later was employed by Young Iron and Metal in Nevada before moving to Kansas City to pursue a career in constuction. After suffering health issues and the death of his father-in-law, he and his family returned to Nevada to reside on the family farm.

Bob enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren whether it was helping them in 4-H projects, working on cars, or raising horses. He was an especially kind, forgiving, and generous man, always quick to help others in need. He was a great fabricator that had the skills to make whatever he needed to fix anything. If he didn't have it, Bob could make it. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with family. In his later years, he learned the art of flint knapping (making arrowheads) which he became very good at and enjoyed sharing his knowledge and talent with others at various events.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Judy, include three children, Randy Kimzey and wife, Kristie, of Bronaugh, Mo., Missy (Kimzey) Wehmeyer and husband, Devin, of Nevada, and Eric Bachtal and wife, Patricia, of Snoqualmie, Wash.; daughter-in-law, Dianne (Ashley) Kimzey of Oak Grove, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Amanda Kimzey of Ozark, Mo., Korey Kimzey of Bronaugh, Mo., Zachary and Dalton Kimzey both of Oak Grove, Mo., Tyler Kimzey and Kallie Hardman of Nevada, Mo., and Paula Bachtal of Snoqualmie, Wash.; two stepgrandchildren, George Rocco and Taylor Wehmeyer of Nevada, Mo.; a sister, Shirley Heathman and Tom of Nevada, Mo.; plus numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bud Kimzey; a son, Rob Kimzey; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Coolie and Polly Thomas; and brother in-law, Gene Thomas.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 23, in the Ferry Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Roger Beach officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. A private family graveside service will follow Friday services in Balltown Cemetery, Horton, Mo. Memorials may be made to the Vernon County Cancer Relief or Crossroads 4-H in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
