Mickie Rae Boyd

Mickie Rae Boyd, 66, of Nevada, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Select Specialty Hospital in Springfield following a lengthy illness. Mickie was born Dec. 31, 1950, in Nevada to Leland Garwood and Helen Osborn Garwood. On Jan. 28, 1978, she was married to Randy Thomas Boyd and he preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 2015.

Mickie was raised in California for a time then came back to Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School in 1969. Mickie ran the Boyd Paint Center in Nevada for a number of years and then went to work in Ft. Scott in the insurance business retiring after 20 years. Following retirement she worked part time at May's Floral in Nevada. She was member of the First Baptist Church in Nevada. Mickie enjoyed volunteering at Nevada Regional Medical Center, and Birthright.

Survivors include two sons, Mike Farris and his wife, Lisa, Nevada, Jeremy T. Boyd and his fiancé Stephanie, Nevada; step-children, Shannon Boyd, Rosebud, Ark., Aaron Boyd, Ward Cabot, Ark., Brennon Boyd, Ward Cabot, Ark.; 12 grandchildren, and grandson "Randy Thomas Boyd" on the way; one great-grandchild; mother, Helen Cornell, Nevada; three brothers, David Garwood, Nevada, Ed Garwood and his wife Cathy, Nevada, John Myrick and his wife Debbie, Connecticut; four sisters, Rita Young, Grandview, Mo., Barbara Rapp and her husband Mark, Nevada, Jackie Shearer and her husband David, Kansas City, Mo., Dora Simmons and her husband Jeff, Raytown, Mo.; sisters-in-law, Barbara Moore, Nevada, Sharon Sutcliffe, Nevada; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 16, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor David Crook officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Vernon County Cancer Relief in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
