Vicky Sue Headley, age 71, Nevada, passed away on Thursday, April 13, at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada following a courageous battle with cancer.

Vicky was born Feb. 17, 1946, in Kansas City, Mo., to C.A. and Claudine (Crawford) White. She moved to Nevada in 1952 and graduated from Nevada High School in 1964. Vicky attended SMSU and worked for Hallmark in Kansas City, Mo. She married Gary Lynn Headley Nov. 14, 1981, and returned to Nevada. She worked for a number of years for LPL Financial. Vicky retired from Earnsbarger Heating and Cooling Inc. after working 19 years as the office manager.

Vicky was an avid bridge player and enjoyed spending time at her lake home at Pomme de Terre. She was treasurer of the Vernon County Historical Society, board member of the Nevada Children Center, treasurer of Laureate Chapter Beta Sigma Phi, member of the Athenas Club and the Lunch Bunch. She also served on the house committee at the Nevada Country Club.

In addition to her husband, Gary, survivors include a sister, Sherry Sadler, Tulsa Okla.; a niece, Mindy (Greg) Garcia, Tulsa, Okla.; two step-daughters, Kristi (Brad) Townsend, Clinton, Mo., Sherry (Doug) Hutson, Neosho, Mo.; a step granddaughter, Taylor Townsend, Clinton, Mo.; three step grandsons, Shaun (Stephanie) McConnaughey, Ryan McConnaughey, Cody (Candace) McConnaughey, all of Neosho, Mo.; five step great-grandchildren, Amelia and Abigail McConnaughey, Eli McConnaughey, Noah and Caleb McConnaughey, all of Neosho, Mo.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 17, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor James Keezer officiating. Interment will follow at Newton Burial Park in Nevada. Friends may call from now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.

The family suggests memorials to the Vernon County Historical Society or the Nevada Children Center in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
