Janice Lee Munsterman, 75, of Nevada, passed away Sunday, Sept. 17, at Nevada Nursing and Rehab.

Janice was born Dec. 29, 1941, in Nevada, the daughter of Roy and Ruby (Summers) Marple.

She attended school in Hume and in Pittsburg, Kan., where she was on the debate team and a majorette in the marching band. She was a lifelong Nevada resident. Janice worked at Nellie Don Clothing, Ben Franklin and Robertson’s.

Janice married Elmer Munsterman on July 19, 1986. The couple loved to travel and enjoyed their time in “Porta Lavarta.” She loved country music, western dancing and gambling in Tunica, Miss. She was a member of the Does and a state champion women’s bowler.

Janice is survived by her son, Lonnie Welch, of Kansas City; daughter, Leslie Welch and wife, Katherine Conway, of Houston, Texas; step-son, Troy Munsterman and wife, Janet, of Nevada; grandchildren, Regis Welch and wife, Misty, Ryan Welch, Brandon Munsterman and Brooke Munsterman.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 20, at the Ferry Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Newton Burial Park. A visitation will be from noon until service time on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make donations to the Lucille Smith Penny Scholarship at Nevada High School or in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
