Patsy Jean (Walker) Cherry

Patsy Jean (Walker) Cherry, Hermitage, Mo., passed away March 25, at Citizen’s Memorial Hospital, Bolivar, Mo. She was born Sept. 14, 1936, at El Dorado Springs to John R. and Ruth G. (Kirkhart) Walker. Her early years growing up began in Joplin, Mo., and when she was still in elementary school the family moved to Walker where she graduated in 1954.

She was married to Kenneth M. Cherry on Nov. 25, 1954, in Walker. The couple then moved to Kansas City, Mo., where she was employed by the First National Bank. In 1958 the couple had their first child, Kenneth Michael. In 1960 the family moved to Hermitage, Mo., and opened the Gamble’s Store on the square in March of 1960. Their second child, Linda Jean, was born in April of 1961.

Survivors include her husband Ken Cherry, of Hermitage; a son, Mike and his wife, Carol, Cherry, of Hermitage, Mo.; a daughter, Linda and her husband, Dan, Martin, of Kingsville, Mo.; two sisters, Linda Dorsey, of Nevada, and Mary Jane Bertoncin, of Independence, Mo.; four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held Thursday, March 29, at Hathaway-Peterman Funeral Home, Wheatland Mo., with the Rev. Allen Perkins officiating. Burial was at the Hermitage Cemetery.
