Shirley Ann Bogart, 79, Nevada, passed away on Monday, April 9, at her home in Nevada. Shirley was born May 27, 1938, in St. Louis, Mo., to Edward and Valda (Harmon) Simon. She was united in marriage to Melvin Bogart on Jan. 11, 1955, and he preceded her in death on March 3, 1998.

Shirley was raised in Jerico Springs on the rural family farm and attended school in Sheldon. She worked at Nellie Don, Keys and as a CNA locally in the healthcare field. Shirley’s passions were raising miniature Schnauzers, tending to her cats and spending time with her much-loved black lab “Kate.” She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, watching game shows and soap operas on television and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and pets.

Survivors include three children, Liminda Stevenson (Larry), Nevada, Edward Bogart (Megan), Wilmington, N.C., and Meshele Crooks (Carey), Nevada; 15 grandchildren, Christina Quenzer, Heather Horton, Jarad Daniels, Travis Bogart, Marklee Bogart, Bridget White, Caramee Crooks, Molly Love, Kandette Ricketts, Michael Bogart, Shawn Stevenson, Catlyn Bogart, Will Daniels, Brittany Stevenson and Krystal McCoy; numerous great-grandchildren; and extended and treasured friends.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
