Vonda Marie Landis
It is with great sadness that the family of Vonda Marie Landis announces her passing after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease, on Sunday, May 6, at the age of 77 years.
Vonda was born May 22, 1940, in Van Buren, Mo. She worked as an L.P.N. her entire career, until her retirement in 2009. Vonda and her son moved from Kansas City to Nevada in 1976 where she worked for many years at the Nevada State Hospital, ultimately relocating back to Kansas City in 1991.
Vonda was preceded in death by her mother Mavis June Landis, father Claude Landis and sisters Sondra Dirks and Bonnie Souders.
Vonda will be lovingly remembered by her son Mike Landis, his wife Liz and daughter Kaitlin. She is survived by four brothers Terry Landis, of El Dorado Springs, Roger Landis, of Sawyer Okla., Charles Landis, of Lenexa Kan., and Ted Landis, of Hot Springs Ark.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, May 11, at 7:30 p.m., at Ferry Funeral Home located at 301 S. Washington Street, in Nevada. Burial proceedings will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. with a small graveside service at Welborn Cemetery in Moundville.
