Glenn Estel McCullough

Glenn Estel McCullough, 86, of Nevada, died at 7 a.m., Thursday, July 26, 2018, at his home.

Mr. McCullough was born Aug. 10, 1931, in Arma, Kan., the son of Jesse and Evylena Edwards McCullough. Glenn was a retired coal miner and had lived in Nevada the past 25 years. He was raised in Arma and graduated from Arma High School in 1949. He later attended Kansas State Teachers College, now Pittsburg State University, and received a mechanical engineering degree. He worked for Peabody Coal Company and numerous other coal companies until retirement.

He married Billie Sue Guthrie on Dec. 18, 1955, at the First Christian Church at Arcadia, Kan. She survives at the home. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Nevada, the Masonic Lodge of Arma, the Elks Lodge of Booneville, Ind., and the VFW of Nevada.

Survivors include his wife, Billie Sue, of the home; two sons, Andy (Marie) McCullough and Mike McCullough, both of Nevada; a daughter, Jamie McCullough, of Boise, Idaho; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Claxton McCullough.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, July 30, at the Bedene Funeral Home, in Arma, Kan., with the Rev. Steve Cole officiating. Burial will be at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, at the Bedene Chapel in Arma. The family suggests memorials to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kan.
