Leonard William Grant

Leonard William Grant, 59, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Mo. Leonard was born Aug. 12, 1959, in Norfolk, Va., to Albert Rufus and Delores Laverne (Hostic) Grant. He married Helen Lorraine Smith on June 13, 1981, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 14, 2017.

Leonard attended Nevada High School and graduated with the Class of 1978. He worked at Guthrie Motors in Nevada for a number of years before going to work at Tim’s Muffler where he later became owner and operator of the business. Leonard enjoyed fishing, collecting cars, taking his car to car shows with his son Levi, and racing at Nevada Speedway for many years.

Leonard is survived by one son, Levi Grant of the home; one sister, Jackie Anders and her husband Tim of Nevada; and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., on Monday, Feb. 11, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
