Adeline “Angie” Mary (Strick) Stevens

Friday, March 1, 2019

Adeline “Angie” Mary (Strick) Stevens, 86, passed away early on Thursday morning Feb. 28, 2019, at her home in Nevada. Angie was born Aug. 25, 1932, in Kirk, Colo., to Paul Joseph and Alice Mary (Waller) Strick.

Angie graduated from Kirk High School Class of 1950 and moved to Lenexa, Kan., to live with her sister Agnes and brother-in-law Orville to secure a job. While living and working in Kansas City, she accompanied her sister Eileen to Fort Riley, Kan., to pick up Eileen’s husband and on that trip she met her soon-to-be husband, R.A. Stevens Jr. The couple married Nov. 7, 1953, in the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Kansas City, Mo., and made their home in Nevada, Mo., where they raised four children. Angie was fortunate enough to be a stay-at-home mom. She enjoyed growing flowers and gardening, and worked for several years at Gragg’s Greenhouse during the planting season. She was truly in her element if she had her hands in the dirt and was able to make things grow. Angie also enjoyed traveling back to Colorado to see friends and family as often as health and weather would allow. She enjoyed hosting family dinners, and being able to help her children, and grandchildren whenever and however possible. She especially enjoyed traveling to Florida, stopping at various beaches along the way to walk in the sand. One of her great joys in life was feeding and watching “her” birds in the back yard.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Agnes Clarke and Eileen Russell; and one brother, Paul Strick.

Angie is survived by her husband R.A. Stevens Jr, of the home; children, Caroline Stevens, Nevada, Lora Miller (Butch) Nevada, Dennis Stevens (Dana) Springfield, and Lisa Armstrong (Bryan), Nevada; grandchildren, Kyle, Logan and Jacob Armstrong, Dominick Stevens, Delana Wood, Andre and Anthony Miller, Casey Sims and Victoria (Tori) Miller; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Macy, Trenton, Drew, Hayden, Holden, Levi, Kamdon, and Kilby; one great-great-grandchild, Hadley; sisters, Theresa Adamson, Wray, Colo., Jean Gilchrist, Limon, Colo., and Jane Bouland, Conyers, Ga.; brothers, Roy Strick, Denver, Colo., Henry Strick, Joes, Colo., Walter Strick, Denver, Colo., and Daniel Strick, Loveland, Colo.; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, March 4, at St. Mary’ Catholic Church with the Rev. Peter Savidge officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Nevada. A Rosary service will be held at 5 p.m., Sunday, with visitation following until 7 p.m. at Ferry Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or the charity of choice in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
