Edith Carrole “Sissy” Palmer

Edith Carrole “Sissy” Palmer, 77, of Fair Haven, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2020, at Barnes-Jewish hospital in St. Louis. As a cancer survivor, she was one of the strongest, bravest women known by her family. The family believes that her heart was just so full of love that it just wore out. Carrole was born on July 31, 1942, in Schell City, Mo., to Foley and Lillie (Wells) Fox. Carrole grew up in Schell City and graduated from the Schell City High School in 1960. In 1989, she married Joseph Palmer.

Carrole worked hard all of her life with jobs as a homemaker, secretary, account manager, office manager, EMT and hotel manager to name a few. In the 1990s, she and Joe lived and worked in Yellowstone National Park for four years. For the last 15 years, she and Joe have been truck patching and selling produce, jams and jellies, and flower planters at the Webb City Farmer’s Market where she made many friends.

Carrole enjoyed crafts and cooking; but most of all being with her family – especially her children and grandchildren. The grandkids loved experiencing berry picking, watching baby quail hatch, and gathering eggs at grandma’s house. The family claim that she was practically famous for her homemade noodles, hot rolls, jams and jellies.

Survivors include her husband, Joe, and Maria Miller of the home; two children, Cymanthia (Sanderson) McCoy and her husband, Tim, of Independence, Mo., and Curtis Sanderson and his wife, Lisa, of Nevada, Mo.; two stepchildren, Jolene Palmer of Carl Junction, Mo., and Shane Palmer and wife, Michelle, of Eden Prairie, Mo.; 26 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Gary Fox and his wife, Sherry, of Kansas City, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Carrole was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Charles Fox; her stepfather, Eugene Souza; and one infant grandson.

Carrole was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, July 8, at Greenlawn Cemetery in Schell City with Grady Davis officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at Lewis Hoagland Funeral Home in Schell City. The family requests that masks be worn at the visitation for everyone’s protection. Masks will be provided for those who need them.
