Vernon County Health Department reports second death due to COVID-19

As of press time, Monday, the Vernon County Health Department had not released updated information for COVID-19 statistics in the county. See the Tuesday edition of the Nevada Daily Mail for the latest update.

However, on Sunday it was reported that the county had experienced its second death due to COVID-19.

In a release, the health department stated, "The Vernon County Health Department is saddened to announce the second death of a Vernon County resident due to complications related to COVID-19. This resident did have underlying health conditions. Our hearts go out to the family in this very difficult time."

Community Testing Event

In addition, the health department released the results from the community testing event that took place on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at the Vernon County Fairgrounds. There was a total of 143 tested at this free event with 11 total positive cases. Of the 11 positive cases, 10 were Vernon County residents and one was a non-Vernon County resident.
