Comet spikers compete in St. Louis

 The Cottey Comet volleyball team absorbed a trio of losses Friday and Saturday in St. Louis. 

In their first match, Friday, Cottey was bested by Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University in four sets — 17-25, 21-25, 25-19, 13-25. 

The Comets returned the following day for a pair of matches. In their first contest, Cottey was swept in three sets by the Lincoln (Ill.) College Lady Lynx — 20-25, 22-25, 22-25. They then wrapped play with a four-set loss to St. Ambrose (Iowa) University — 25-22, 15-25, 17-25, 24-26. 

Prior to the St. Louis trip, the Comets had a 10-day break in action.  They were last on the court Oct. 6, and notched a dominant three-set sweep of visiting William Baptist (Ark.) University — 25-8, 25-21, 25-19.

Cottey (3-11) returns to the court Tuesday for a home clash with Calvary University, at 6:30 p.m. They then match-up with visiting Central Baptist (Ark.) College — 1 p.m., Oct. 24.
