Clara Mae Johns, 79, of Nevada, Mo., passed away at her home on Saturday, May 7, 2022. It was a gloriously sunny morning that heralded Clara’s journey to be with her Lord and Savior in Heaven.

Clara was born Feb. 27, 1943, at home in Richland, Mo., to Clyde Lester and Mary Gertrude (Cusick) Bailey. Clara was the youngest of four, with a 16-year span between herself and her oldest brother, which meant she was very spoiled and took great joy in it. She was a stay at home Mom until her youngest went to school and then she became a teachers aid at an exceptional education school. After moving to Nevada in 1983, she worked at Heartland Hospital for 23 years and at the Nevada Middle School for 21 years. She had a huge soft spot for exceptional needs children and was always very patient and kind. Clara had a deep and abiding faith in the Lord and was often quoted as saying “Tie another knot in it and let God take care of it.” Clara was a truly selfless and amazing Mother and Mimi to her grandchildren.

Clara leaves behind a daughter, Dana White, Nevada, Mo.; a son, Christopher (Shae) Johns, Medford, Ore.; four beautiful grandchildren, Arden White, Hadli White, Karastin Johns and Mason Johns; four grand dogs, Freyja, Isla, Smidge, and Arlo; as well as several nieces and nephews that she was incredibly fond of.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Jim Bailey; and two sisters, Alma Orr and Emma Hendricks.

There will be a celebration of life for Clara announced for a later date. The family suggests donations to your favorite charity or the American Heart Association instead of flowers.
