Dallas LeRoy Yockey, 84, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at the Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan. Dallas was born on May 18, 1938, to Bassett Earl and Violet Marie (Austin) Yockey.

Dallas grew up in Cedar County and graduated from Eldorado Springs High School. He lived most of his adult life in Nevada. He worked for Maynor Bread in Butler, Mo., drove a truck for Guy’s Foods in Nevada, and worked for a time at Guthrie Motors in Nevada.

In 1968, he started Yockey Motor’s where he operated a car lot and also a gas service station for a time. Dallas operated the business for 50 years before retiring in 2018.

Dallas had a love for ice cream, was a cowboy at heart with a love for horses, and enjoyed collecting many things including antique cars and “hotwheels.”

Survivors include his children, Jeff Yockey, Nevada, Shawn Yockey, Nevada, Candy Yockey (Slade Williams), Nevada, and Cory Yockey, Nevada; three grandchildren, Zack Yockey, Springdale, Ark., Kira Brown, Springfield, Mo., and Drew Yockey, Joplin, Mo.; his sister, Gladys Coleman, El Dorado Springs, Mo.; his brother, Robert Yockey, Bolivar, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Austin Brown; two brothers, G.D. Yockey and R.C. Yockey; and a brother-in-law, Dean Coleman.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 29, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, Mo., with Ray Dean Scism officiating. A private interment will follow in the Love Cemetery in Cedar County. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m., prior to the service.

Contributions may be made in Dallas’ memory to Love Cemetery or the University of Kansas Hospital’s “No one Dies Alone" program in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
