It was a great evening to sport the crimson and gray colors in the stands at Logan Field Friday evening. Not only did the Tigers capture the win during the homecoming against Big 8 Conference rival Cassville Wildcats, but Nevada was back as their usual selves by winning by big numbers 62-7. “I thought the most important thing that contributed to this week's game was our scout team,” Head Coach Wes Beachler for the Tigers told Nevada Daily Mail. “All we can practice I think our scout team kids do an outstanding job of simulating cast fills offense and defense and giving our stars a good look. So I think that probably the MVP for this week is our scout team guys, who aren't always in the limelight, but still embrace their role to help this team get better.”

Starting off in the first quarter with 7:12 left, a 24 yard touchdown run by #28 Case Sanderson put the Tigers in an early lead. With the PAT kick made, it was 7-0 Nevada. Nevada received a fumble by the Wildcats, and shortly after scored a 29 yard touchdown pass by #4 Beshore to #11 Drew Beachler with 6:52 left in the quarter. The extra two points made it 15-0 with the Tigers on top. No. 2 Avious Steadman ran for 89 yards to score the third touchdown of the evening with 2:58 remaining. The PAT kick was good and it was Nevada with a 22-0 lead over Cassville.

The second quarter was great for Nevada as well, with Sanderson getting another touchdown by a nine yard run with 8:53 remaining in the half as well as the extra point from the PAT, makingnin 29-0. With 7:15 to go after a fumble recovery by Nevada against the Wildcats, #3 Jordan Johnson ran for 37 yards to score his first touchdown of the evening. Extra point kick made it 36-0 with Nevada getting stronger by the minute. Becahler scored again with another pass completed by Beshore for nine yards with 4:17 remaining in time. The PAT kick made it 43-0 for the Tigers heading into the second half.

In the second half of the ballgame that Nevada dominated, it only got better from there. Johnson ran for another 81 yards for a touchdown with 9:31 to go in the quarter, and made it 50-0 with the extra point kick being made. The Cassville Wildcats scored their only touchdown of the evening with 1:14 to go in the third quarter after a 53 yard run. The PAT kick made the score now 50-7. How did the Tigers respond? By a 50 yard touchdown of course, made by #9 Dezmon Robinson to make it 56-7. The final touchdown run was made by #8 Jack Cheaney, who usually plays on Monday night for the JV Tigers. Cheaney ran for 14 yards with 8:57 to go in the fourth quarter, and made the final score 62-7 with Nevada now being 5-1 on the year, and 3-1 against Big 8 teams.

Beshore, who threw for two touchdowns tonight, said that they thought Nevada was back to their usual selves this week after two tough weeks for the Tigers. “I thought it was a good game tonight. The offensive line did great like always and executed really well on offense and defense did really well. I’d say I need to do the little things like footwork and making the right reads, just little things.” Johnson, who ran for 118 yards and two touchdowns for the Tigers, told Nevada Daily Mail on what they need to do in the next couple of weeks. “Number one thing is just being healthy. Ourw guys are hurting a bit and we need everyone to be healthy to go far. We're feeling really humble. After losing against McDonald County, we really humbled ourselves. We're just looking to go in and play well.” Steadman, who is just five yards away from breaking the all time record of yards ran with 2,478 being the record, says he is thankful to be in the opportunity. “I've never really thought I could go this far and do something that big in our school. So that means a lot to me personally. As long as we just do our job and go out there and play like we wanted to play like all season, we will be great. We need to do our job and work hard. We need to do our assignments, and we will be good.”

Next week, the famous Silver Tiger game will be held in Lamar, Mo., against the 5-1 Lamar Tigers next Friday evening starting at 7 p.m. Beachler put it simple by saying, “You're going to have two fired up teams next Friday. Lamar is a very good football team. They throttled Mac County tonight, who's a very good team as we were down there a couple of weeks ago. They’re a state championship caliber team every year and we just have to prepare well this week. We will take it one play at a time. Our slogan this year is every player every play, and that's what it takes to win ball games against teams like Lamar. We need to have players playing hard on every play. We'll just see what happens.”
