Mayor Rob Sewell called the Dec. 15, Sheldon Board of Aldermen meeting to order. The board approved of the agenda, minutes from last month’s meeting, treasurer's report, and to pay the bills. There were no miscellaneous concerns or Community Betterment Committee reports.

The Chief of the Fire Department reported that the department has had to use the new fire truck that was donated to them on one run, and it ran great for them. She reminded everyone that the Sheldon Christmas parade is this Saturday, Dec. 17, at 6 p.m. Prior to the parade, there will be the cookies with Santa from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The board approved of her report.

Maintenance worker Russ Strickland reported that he has received two bids for the new doors that need to be replaced to the Community Building at the City Park. He stated that the two bids he received were from Gammons Glass and the other one was from Santa Paula Awning. The board asked Strickland to get one other bid, and they approved to go with whichever gives them the cheapest bid. Strickland reported that he has also received one bid for the new windows that need to be installed at City Hall. The board approved for him to get another couple of bids.

There was only one item on old business. Sewell read Bill 2022-04 (closing the alley behind the Baptist Church). It was accepted and approved by the board in the first reading.

In new business, the board went through the budget for 2023 (from the expenditures, to income, to general fund, to Fire Department fund, to Park Fund, and to Gas Tax budget). The board approved of the Budget for 2023, with the exception of possibly having to raise the trash and sewer.

The board approved of adjourning the meeting, with next month’s meeting scheduled for Jan. 12.
