Wilma Maxine Hartsell

Wilma Maxine Hartsell, 92, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022, at Moore-Few Care Center, in Nevada, following a short illness. Wilma was born April 1, 1930, in Nevada, Mo., to Watson H. and Lettie M. (Hunter) Shumaker. She married Shirold Moore, Sr. and to this union four children were born. She then married Walter Hartsell and he preceded her in death in 1996.

Wilma was raised in Nevada. She worked at Maxwells Grocery in Nevada for a number of years as well as several other area grocery stores. Wilma retired from the Nevada State Hospital following 32 years of service. She enjoyed doing volunteer work for several local charities, knitting, crocheting, being outdoors and doing yardwork, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Wilma was a member of the Community Christian Church, in Nevada.

Survivors include her children, Shirold Moore Jr. (Anita), Nevada, Steve Moore (Karen), Broken Arrow, Okla., Debbie Kimrey (Dennis), Nevada, and Connie Reynolds (John), Carl Junction, and Laverne Hartsell (Sue), Joplin; Tony Hartsell, Butler, Mo.; son-in-law, Roger McKee; eight grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; a son, Larry Hartsell; a daughter, Faye McKee; her parents; three brothers; and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with Pastor Roger McKee officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, in Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested in her name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Wounded Warriors Project in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
