Official primary election results released

The Vernon County Clerk's Office released the official results of the Tuesday, Feb. 7, municipal election. The primary election had voters selecting two city council candidates from the total six, to narrow down the candidate pool to four candidates.

The results are as follows:

• Jack Somers: 134 votes (17.99 percent)

• Wayne Blunt: 37 votes (4.97 percent)

• Janie Conroy: 126 votes (16.91 percent)

• Kendall Vickers: 164 votes (22.01 percent)

• Kevin Doug Jones: 26 votes (3.49 percent)

• Carol Branham: 258 votes (34.63 percent)

The voting has eliminated both Blunt and Jones as candidates.

There are 4,349 registered voters in the City of Nevada, with only 392 voters casting votes in the Tuesday election.

Community members are reminded that the general election that will decide which two of the remaining four candidates will serve on city council will be held April 4.
