Martha Anna McCartney-Gicante

Martha Anna McCartney-Gicante, 72, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Ark., following a brief illness. Marty was born March 31, 1950, in Windsor, Mo., to Glenn H. and Violet L. (McMillin) McCartney.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Marty. From playing pool and hanging out with friends to back roading and listening to music. Marty was a free-spirited soul who loved to dance, especially with her dad. She was a “God Fearing Woman” who was a force to reckon with if you crossed her or a loved one. She always lit up a room with her adventurous personality and will be greatly missed by many.

Survivors include two sons, Ray (Diane) Underwood, Smithville, Ark., and Russell (Lisa) Underwood, Fort Scott, Kan.; daughter, Anna (David) Martin, Nevada, Mo.; six grandchildren, Stefanie Underwood, Dallas Underwood, Billy Ray Underwood, Jacob Underwood, Tequila Pike, and Deanna Gicante; numerous great-grandchildren; three brothers, Henry McCartney, Nevada, George McCartney, Nevada, and Larry McCartney, Walker; two sisters, Georgia Turner, Adrian, and Cecilia Underwood, Everton, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m., Monday, March 6, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada. Memorial are suggested to the family in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
